Pastor Puts Drag Queen Out
Here we go again with the great debate on religion and homosexuality. This is not new, news. The Black Church has always had strong viewpoints on sin and sexuality. But, it seems that being homosexual has escalated be the most singled out "sin" of them all. I have always prided myself on being a great listener of the things being said and the things being suggested, in any conversation. Being that I was not at this church, I do not know the backstory of this situation. I don't know if there is a history between the pastor and the person who was told to leave the church. But I personally feel that respect is due on all accords in this situation and it wasn't given.
@ :26 mark The Pastor states, " I do not let drags queens come in here"
My things is this.....I understand that this is your church but did you not think to have any tact to address this person after church or when you found a break in your sermon. How did you assume the person is a drag queen; and not a transgender or crossdresser? I guess you felt that you would embarrass the gay out of this individual.
@ :51 he states "My salvation is more important and God is holding me accountable"
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't your job to be a helper of the salvation of others. So tell me again, what is God holding you accountable for? He then proceeds to say that he doesn't bash or judge but the whole spill of what's going on is Judgment . What if this individual is seeking salvation? If I come as I am seeking salvation, shouldn't your job be to help me. Or do I have to get half-way saved before I come seeking the salvation?
@ 1:46 Don't come in here trying to trick people. " I can pick up spirits and he was bothering my spirit."
Maybe that was God trying to tell you to speak to this individual and get a better perspective. See this is where I have a big problem. Many church folk feel as if they are the only ones who can speak to and hear from God. This sermon bothered my spirit and had I been sitting in the midst of this congregation, I would not only feel uncomfortable about what is happening, I would have had to excuse myself as well. I would not be able to allow myself to sit in the midst of a spiritual control.
@ 2:45 "What i'm not gonna do is allow you to disrespect the house of the Lord"
Sir, I think you just did that. You embarrassed the shit out of a person in the audience for being who they are. The church has always preached "COME AS YOU ARE" but when a person comes as they are, seeking spiritual understanding, there is then an addendum added in small letters stating - come as you are as long as you don't do this, look like this, think like this and feel like this......that's a bunch of bullshit.
I do agree with him on this ..The fact that this is his church and his home in a sense. He has that right to not allow anyone in. I agree. But when your spirit told you from the back of the room that this "dragqueen" shouldn't be in your church, why not address it when you was back there. And I also want to speak to my fellow LBGTQ people, please stop supporting people who don't have respect for you. Walk into any black church in the south and half of the damn choir is gay, the choir director is gay, 1/3 of the congregation is of an alternative lifestyle and sometime the very own leader of the church is "dippin and dappin".(Lord knows I have met more than my fair share of those) Yall have got to stop letting people disrespect your character. The gay dollar has built many a churches....trust and believe in what I'm saying. The ultimate lay of the land is to treat others the way that you want to be treated. That is rarely preached these days because everyone want to feel super human. They feel that they should be treated differently than the next man. This was just another perfect example of that, and I'm sure that this wont be the last we will see of such sorts. All any one can do is to pray that the World as a whole turns the corner for the better.
