Being Bobby V
OK, here goes! I tried to avoid talking about RnB singer Bobby Valentino and his indiscretions with a transgender woman, but the topic, in itself, is very close to home and I owe it to my entire spirit to speak upon it. If you have been under a rock this past week, the singer was filmed half dressed, fleeing a hotel room, covering his face in shame. The person filming him was a transgender woman, which is not clear whether or not she's an escort, but she was on the video claiming that he owes her money. Now in the grand scheme of things I would be lying if I said I was surprised. The entertainment industry is full of people who live a down low lifestyle. Bobby Valentino recently released a statement saying that he did not know the person was transgendered and denies that she was a sex worker. I'm sorry Bobby, and no disrespect to the woman in question, but you knew way before you were standing in that hotel room in your underwear, that this woman has male parts. The voice alone was suspect. But you did it anyways because that's you're thing. And hey, that's you're business.
Here's where I feel some sort of way about it. Bobby knew the risk when he went to the room. Whether the woman was a biological woman or transgender woman, the risk of someone putting you on blast were higher because you are a celebrity of sorts. Many people, both straight and gay, are bashing the female for outing Bobby. I feel like this. You can't continue to play with a person's emotions and use their body for your personal satisfaction and then run away and live your politically correct life. If it happens once or twice , maybe I can let it go, but if your whole life is met with people who try to play you for less than human there lies a problem. Word of Advice: If you live by your own truths then no one can exploit you.
