Regal Reaching
It appears that retailer, Nordstrom, is reaching with the novelty fashion notion. The luxury department store recently started selling a pair of distressed men's jeans for $425. The issue that some have with these jeans are that they have a muddy oil soaked coating similar to a working man's pair of jeans. It's being said that these are meant for wealthy people to wear as a mockery of hard work. Do I believe this? Not at all. As a person with a fashion background, I know that there is a thing called "supply and demand". Currently, what's trending in fashion is shredded and tattered clothing. Kanye West made millions off of a clothing line that has been called "homeless couture".
Nordstrom is merely trying to cash in. Nothing more, nothing less. And quiet as it's kept maybe I should design a line of "rat-a-tat tattered" clothing. This seems to be selling more than traditional wear. This isn't their first time where they've missed the mark on marketing. Earlier this year they came under fire for selling $1,190 Gucci "sock sandals" and $95 "Mom jeans." But hey , if you like it then I love it. To each his own.
