2016 MTV Video Music Award Review
This years VMA's left me somewhat frustrated and unsatisfied. It was like taking 2 hours to get dressed for a date and he shows up looking like it took him 15 minutes to get ready. I'm not going to touch basis on every performance but there are a few who stood out, whether good or bad, so let me dish the tea on them. I must be totally out of the loop because I did not know who the hosts, Key and Peele, were. And even after these awards were over I can care less. The skit that they did throughout the whole VMA's reminded me of a black version of Beavis and Butthead. I felt like they were out of place in this arena but to each his own, right. The show opened with Rihanna, who was to be later honored with the Video Vanguard Award. I give Rihanna props as a musical artist but she lacks in performance and live vocal ability. And to top it off, she had 4 performances throughout the whole show. Girl, put all of those performances into one and call it a day. She was giving me Joseline Hernandez vibes. I swear the whole time I was watching her, I was waiting on her to say "stingy with my cootie cat".
Next I have to touch basis on Mr. Kanye West who MTV deemed it fitting to just let him talk for about 3-4 minutes before debuting his new video called FADE. I think Kanye has a problem with concentration because he kept jumping from one topic to another. But babe' ( in my Louisiana accent) Ms Teyanna Taylor's body, in that video, had me rethinking breathing too much air in. Homegirl had the baddest physique that I've seen in a while. The video gave me a Flashdance type of feel. The performance that made the Awards worth anything was Beyoncé. When I tell y'all this woman worked the entire stage, the audience, the cameras, the dancers; hell for a moment, I thought she was about to take flight with them feathers that she had on her leotard. This is how you perform. And, I swear that each and every time she won an award, she had on an entirely different look.
MTV, come here and sit down. I got to tell y'all something. You know good and damn well that you should not have put Brittney Spears behind Beyoncé. That girl is trying to make a comeback and you put her behind the woman who just gave a mini concert. Poor Britney was giving me moves from 10 years ago. The girl looked good but she's gonna have to step her game way up. Even Ariana Grande work an exercise bike and pummel horse while wearing 18"heels. Hopefully, next year the artists give more than lackluster performances. These fans spend way too much money going to concerts and downloading music for you all to just be mediocre.
